TODAY’S REALITY FOR COACHES AND ATHLETES
Over a million high school athletes in America play football. It’s the most popular sport in the nation, but there are issues and challenges for young athletes and coaches.
SOME ISSUES FACING TODAY’S ATHLETES:
Instant access through social media
Constant evaluation, criticism, pressure to perform
Sense of entitlement
Instilling Character – Increasing Resilience – Developing Leadership
Coaching today involves more than ensuring game preparation, motivating performance and mitigating risk of injury. It’s about developing players from the inside out.
A survey of 154 high school coaches found they ranked the following as problems most frequently encountered in dealing with their athletes:
- Failure to take personal responsibility
- Lack of motivation/work ethic
- Poor communication/listening skills
- Athletes having problems with parents
- Poor grades
- Poor leadership
Athletic excellence comes from within. It begins by developing the personal character, resilience and leadership your athletes need to be “life ready” on and off the field.
Redefines Athletic Excellence by beginning with the leadership and life skills every athlete needs to succeed in the face of today’s realities.
VINCE LOMBARDI AND AMBASSADORS OF COMPASSION FOOTBALL
Lombardi is the most iconic name in football. Recognized as the greatest coach of all time, Vince Lombardi’s coaching roots were born out of his character, work ethic and core values. His legacy provides inspiration for the AOC Football Journey. We have formed a partnership with the Lombardi Foundation to develop the Lombardi Leadership Edition of the AOC Football Journey.
“Football is a great deal like life in that it teaches that work, sacrifice, perseverance, competitve drive, selflessness and respect for authority is the price that each and every one of us must pay to achieve any goal that is worthwhile.”
~ Vince Lombardi
